Journaling has never been my strong suit, obviously; but here's a quick update!
So for the past couple of months my blood sugars have been coming down with the new insulin, Tresiba. However, I've also gained about 20 lbs! Yikes! So this month is all about upping the exercise and making better choices with food, and hopefully taking some of that weight off before my endo appointment on the 31st. *crosses fingers*
I'm also slated to have dental surgery here soon which is another HUGE reason for wanting to lower my a1c, the less complications the better!

Running in the Blue Circle
My original goal was to start this blog a couple of weeks ago when I started a new insulin because my insurance company wanted proof that I was testing and well, I'm horrible at it; but hey, better late than never!
As a "short" introduction my name is Krystle, I am 30 and have been a Type 1 diabetic for 21 years. My condition is old enough to drink, now THAT is a scary thought. I consider myself a lab rat, or guinea pig because I have been on every type of insulin and every insulin delivery device available since the mid 90s in order to react that coveted 6.0 A1c (which I have yet to see). I have been through countless doctors and endocrines, been given the term "brittle", and have been told on more than one occasion to get my final affairs in order. I was also told I would never see my 30 birthday so HA to you medical professionals!
Outside of the disease I am a dog groomer by profession, I have a 10 year old kid, a small zoo of animals, and I love to be active and stay busy. My favourite colour is purple, I enjoy long walks on the beach and a cold diet pepsi. No seriously, love those last two! ;)
My goals for this blog are to not only keep a record of things for myself, maybe see if a pattern can be spotted anywhere, but also to be a window for others who may not have this whole diabetic thing down pat to see that to err is human, that you can have your cake and eat it to (gluten free in my case), and that the doctors maybe great guides, but they are not in your body and only you can be the real judge of how you're feeling and what works for you. (DISCLAIMER: Please still listen to your doctors. My acts of rebellion are not recommended and I really am lucky to be here still!) (I also make no apologies for that ridiculous run on sentence!)
So welcome to the world of this little lab rat and her marathon inside the blue circle!
